Pupils win Battle of the Bands 2015
The Battle of the Bands Music Concert was held at Plashet School. Several schools from the borough such as Rockeby School, St Angela’s School (6th form), Plashet School, Lister School and Chobham Academy took part in the Battle of the Bands Competition.
All of the bands competed in two categories: cover song and original composition.
Stratford School Academy’s music band, ‘The Sound of Mars’ won the original composition category with a song titled, ‘Struggle.’ The song was written by Tyrese, year 10 and Scott, also year 10. The music was composed by Chandan, year 10 and Tanvir, year 10.
The Sound of Mars spoke to us about their performance:
Chandan (guitarist) ‘It was an amazing performance and we had really good feedback from the judges and the whole show was a big improvement from last year.’
Tanvir (drummer, beat-boxer) ‘I think this year’s local bands were amazing. Thanks to Plashet School and New Vic College for organising this event. The crowd was very energetic and engaged with all of the performances.’
Larissa (singer) ‘The whole show was amazing! There were a lot of good bands and it was very competitive. We are glad that we have won the composition category in this year’s Battle of the Bands, can’t wait to take part again next year!’
