To all parents and carers,
Your child is at a really important stage in their education; it is not only GCSE year but they need to make extremely important decisions about their future beyond Stratford School Academy.
We are quickly approaching a number of deadlines for the college application process. I am writing to you to inform you of the Stratford School Academy Post-16 Progression Fair which will be taking place on Tuesday 19th November 2019 running from 3:00pm until 4:30pm.
The Post-16 Progression Fair is an opportunity for pupils to talk to representatives from a range of local colleges. All pupils in Year 11 are expected to attend this event. You are welcome to join your child from 3:45pm to see the choices for yourself and talk to the representatives from the different colleges.
The event will be held in the Upton Lane Building. Should you wish to join your child, please enter through the gate on Upton Avenue(opposite St Antony’s Primary School).
It is extremely important that you are speaking to your child about which colleges they wish to apply to and which subjects they are hoping to study from September 2020.
A number of colleges have already opened their applications. On the Year 11 Information Evening, you were given a list of college Open Evenings. It is suggested that by 1st December 2018 you and your child have:
- Attended at least two Open Evenings
- Applied to at least one college
Please be aware that college places can be very competitive and an early application that is well researched will help your child in getting first choice of college and course.Should your child require any support with the application, they should see their Tutor or Head of House. Thank you for your support in ensuring your child goes on to attend the college, and study the course which is the best for them.
Mr P. Kean
The annual Post-16 Progression Fair is a fantastic event that has been hosted successfully for the past few years at Stratford School Academy.
Many local higher education/ college/ apprenticeship providers offer their guidance and speak to our pupils about the exciting opportunities made available at their institutions. This is a motivational event and a rare chance for our pupils to meet numerous education and work providers all under one roof in just about three hours!
Former Stratford School Academy pupils also attend this event, now representing their educational institutions and are able to advise and inspire current pupils on their personal experiences regarding the application processes, life at their chosen destination and general top tips for achievement.
We trust that this event has offered pupils the opportunity to make some informed choices about post-16 careers and education routes.
