To all parents and carers,
Your son/daughter is at a really important stage in his/her education; it is not only GCSE year but they need to make extremely important decisions about their future beyond Stratford School Academy.
We will be putting in place a number of events and support over the coming months regarding post-16 options. It is likely that your son/daughter will be embarking on a college course from September next year and we are very close to the application time.
Students would have noticed posters and information displayed around the school advertising local college open days. Year 11 students should be attending these open days if they are interested in hearing more about what the college has to offer.
To make things easier for Year 11 we also invited a number of local colleges to attend our Post-16 progression fair that took place on Monday 23rd November between 1.30pm-4.30pm at the Grosvenor Road site. All Year 11 pupils attended and parents/carers were welcomed to offer their support and to talk to representatives from the different colleges.
It would be useful if you can begin to have conversations with your son/daughter about subjects they may wish to study, colleges they may be interested in applying to or whether apprenticeships might be a better option.
Please be aware that college places can be very competitive and an early application that is well researched will help in obtaining your child’s first choice of college.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or any subject teachers regarding progress in specific subjects that your child may wish to study further.
Thank you for your support in this and It was wonderful to see all pupils at the Careers Fair.

Heads of House
The annual Post-16 Progression Fair is a fantastic event that has been hosted successfully for the past few years at Stratford School Academy.
Many local higher education/ college/ apprenticeship providers offer their guidance and speak to our pupils about the exciting opportunities made available at their institutions. This is a motivational event and a rare chance for our pupils to meet numerous education and work providers all under one roof in just about three hours!
Former Stratford School Academy pupils also attend this event, now representing their educational institutions and are able to advise and inspire current pupils on their personal experiences regarding the application processes, life at their chosen destination and general top tips for achievement.
We trust that this event has offered pupils the opportunity to make some informed choices about post-16 careers and education routes.
