Pupil Voice

Pupils at Stratford School Academy are encouraged to make a positive contribution, articulate their views and participate effectively in their learning as well as in the wider life of their extra-curricular school activities and clubs. This helps to promote their opinions, involve them in school decision making processes as active participants of their education, improve their communication skills, boost their confidence and express their beliefs, allowing them a platform to have their voices heard knowing that they are in a safe and supportive school environment.

Pupils are given the opportunity to lead on roles in the school such as the School Council initiative, House Captain role, Sports Captain role, Pupil Leadership Team and the planning/delivery of Daily Reflections/House Assemblies.

The application process for Prefect positions begins in the summer term each academic year, ready for them to be appointed during the first term back to school in September when they reach Year 11.

Pupils put themselves forward and create a portfolio of evidence highlighting the skills, abilities and characteristics that would make them suitable for a Prefect position. They are then selected by their Head of House. The Senior Prefect/ School Captain positions are selected and interviewed by Deputy Head Teacher, Mr Lyon and Assistant Head Teacher, Ms Salim.

House Captains are selected by the Head of House from the students that make applications for Prefect positions.

Action Group leaders also put themselves forward and are required to fill out an application form, they are then selected by their Head of House.  The application process for Action Groups begins in September to ensure that new Year 7 starters can apply and attend.

Pupils wishing to succeed as Sports Captains are required to fill in an application form and will be interviewed by the Head of the PE Department. Once appointed, Sports Captains will take a lead role in sports activities and plan inter-house sports tournaments.
