Our Year 10 Computer Science students have successfully completed the prestigious Newham Data Programme, an inspiring initiative led by Newham Council. Designed to motivate young people to explore careers in data and technology, the programme provided students with invaluable learning opportunities and hands-on experiences in this fast-evolving field.

Throughout the programme, students were introduced to the world of data analysis by experts from the Institute of Data. They delved into various career pathways in technology, including a fascinating session with Microsoft, where they explored the many opportunities within the tech giant. The students also gained insight into the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) software, a key area of innovation in the tech industry.

The experience culminated in a thrilling work insight visit to Bloomberg, a global leader in financial data and software. Here, students had the chance to tour the company’s impressive offices and TV studios, interact with skilled software engineers, and gain expert advice on how to break into top tech companies. This exclusive opportunity not only broadened their understanding of the tech industry but also provided them with practical knowledge and inspiration for future careers in the field.

Reflecting on the experience, one student shared, “Very inspiring for my future and taught me about things that will actually help with my future. Would definitely go again to the same thing or something similar.”

This unique programme has equipped our students with a deeper understanding of data and technology, igniting their passion for exploring career opportunities in this dynamic and ever-growing sector. With the skills and insights they’ve gained, our students are now better prepared to pursue successful futures in tech.
