Wave 3 students from Stratford School Academy had an enriching and hands-on experience during their field trip to the Docklands Museum in Canary Wharf on March 17, 2025. The museum visit was designed to provide students with an interactive and immersive learning experience, bringing history to life through a variety of engaging activities.

The students participated in a series of exciting sessions, each designed to enhance their understanding of London’s maritime history and the city’s role in global trade. One of the highlights was the rope-making workshop, where students learned the art of crafting ropes, an essential skill used during London's bustling trading days.

An exciting scavenger hunt throughout the museum allowed students to explore its vast exhibits, while the storytelling session took them on a journey through time, explaining how cargo was transported into London from all over the world. The students also had the chance to engage in music and movement activities, which helped them connect with the historical context in a fun and creative way.

A hands-on object handling session allowed students to interact with artifacts from the past, deepening their understanding of the tools and objects used in maritime trade. To top it all off, the students participated in a shopping role-play activity, where they reenacted the trading practices that once took place at the Docklands, further immersing themselves in the past.

The day was a memorable one for all involved, as the students gained a deeper appreciation for London’s rich history and its connection to the global trade networks that shaped the modern world. Teachers and staff were impressed with the students' enthusiasm and engagement throughout the trip, marking the field trip as a success in both educational value and enjoyment.
